WHY THIS?

Video gif. Montage of a man, maybe a preacher, wearing a suit and tie. He stands behind a podium and looks ahead, mouthing the word, "Why."

Sermons are important.

To put it even in a non religious context sermons have, continue to be one of the most effective way of mass communication since even before modern religions were codified. From a religious perspective sermons hold some of the key narrative moments in our childhood, early adolescence into adulthood for many.

Sermons became the watercolor to the dreary canvas of most of human history making communities stronger in some cases and others a prelude to mass devastation. Sermons have often been used by the non partisan to the grifters and extremists alike. Sermons created worlds even linking the spoken word as an oracle from the divine to the charlatan. Snake oil salesmen to snake handling preachers have used this speaking technique to draw money and pocketbooks to attention.

Sermons…are essential to our history and speaking styles across all tribes and cultures worldwide. To give a talk or a sermon to preach is to call ones to action or a point of decision.

Hi I’m Tylor, I’m an former pastor and an openly gay man who broke free of the pulpit and the church altogether now going on 6 years. I am a secular Buddhist meaning a practitioner of the school of Zen. I live in San Diego with my fiancé Xavier, who is not only the love of my life but also the reason I am able to be who I am as an out LGBTQIA+ queer; and last but certainly not least our handsome schnauzer Dexter who loves the beach and chasing seagulls.
